Operations Manager
For the new sailing season, we are looking for an operations manager who will be responsible for day-to-day operational activities. This is a versatile position that can be further developed and expanded at your discretion after an introductory period. Depending on your experience, you will perform the following duties:
Commercial administrative
- Process information flow and reservation requests via email
- Provide information to customers via telephone
- Provide information to customers at our office Oudegracht 175W
- Preparing, sending and documenting offers and confirmations
- Planning and organizing boat trips through SEM (Smart Event Manager )
- Submit orders to suppliers
- Assist with part accounting (billing and cashiering) etc.
- Scanning incoming documents
- Any other common work related to the position.
Personnel Administration
- Scheduling and arrangement of skippers
- Maintaining time records skipper
- Directing the barge crew at departure jetty
Catering
- Preparing catering for the boat trips
- Processing incoming orders
- If necessary, assist skippers with boarding and un-catering the boats
General
- Replacing management during absences
- ( pre ) Sailing on our passenger ships, tour boats and salon boat.
- Checking boats at night storage ( Hooghiemstra and moorings in the canal )
- Keeping an overview of the departing and arriving boats at the jetty on the Oudegracht.
- Working a Saturday shift at least every other week
- Maintaining contacts with business partners (including Tourism Utrecht and package holders)
Job requirements
You:
- Have a flexible attitude,
- Can work accurately and accurately,
- Are able to maintain an overview in a chaotic environment and when busy and can switch tasks easily without losing your accuracy and friendliness,
- Enjoys thinking with customers and is able to speak to them in a friendly and clear manner,
- Enjoys dealing with people,
- have commercial acumen, are enthusiastic, assertive and driven and enjoy winning orders without losing your individuality,
- Can work independently after an introductory period,
- Are able to schedule and keep track of your own hours (no 9 to 5 mentality)
- May supervise an assistant employee/trainee and the barge crew,
- Have at least basic knowledge of e-mail programs, MS Word and MS Excel and Outlook and have good command of the Internet and user-friendly reservation systems,
- Have an affinity with water sports and boating as well as an interest in the hospitality industry, attractions, wedding locations, etc. in Utrecht,
- Proficient in the Dutch language both verbally and in writing
- Mastered at least basic English in word and writing,
- Are resident in Utrecht.
Pre
- familiar with restaurants, wedding venues, attractions and landmarks in the center of Utrecht,
- Experience in boating, and willing to obtain at least your Boating License (VB1 ).
- Related tourism education or experience within a commercial company,
- Are not smoking.
